What is

A coached weighted-jump-rope program built around short, structured HIIT intervals — about 10 minutes, three days a week — that build cardiovascular fitness and full-body strength-endurance at the same time. A wearable heart-rate sensor guides the intensity of every session. You train at home or at work on your own schedule, while Jim coaches your technique and reviews your progress remotely.

Is it for beginners, or only athletes?

Both. Nearly everyone is new to weighted-rope training, so the program starts from the fundamentals. For someone building general fitness it’s a complete routine; for a competitive athlete it’s efficient conditioning that frees up time for sport-specific work.

What equipment do I need to start?

Just two things: a weighted jump rope (heavier handles and rope) and a cushioned exercise mat. That’s the full starting kit, and it typically runs about $170 to $305 total, depending mostly on which mat you choose. You do not need an Apple Watch or any wearable to begin. When you book, Jim sends specific product recommendations and where to buy them, matched to your goals and budget.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

Not to start. In your first weeks you’ll use a simple timer (your phone is fine) while you learn the technique and build a base. Heart-rate-guided intervals come later, usually after about a month, once you’re ready for structured work. At that point a wearable like an Apple Watch adds real value, since it announces your intervals and heart-rate targets aloud, but it’s never required to begin.

How does the remote coaching work?

Your first session covers screening (PAR-Q+, consent and waiver), your goals and history, equipment, and a first guided workout. Over the first month, scheduled video appointments build your technique and starting routine. After that you train on your own schedule and share your workout records; Jim stays actively involved — tracking your data and your reported effort (RPE), adjusting your intervals, shaping your progression, and monitoring for injury risk.

Is jumping rope bad for my knees?

Done with a low bounce, a forefoot landing, and a cushioned mat, rope work places lower joint load than running and strengthens the muscles that support the hip, knee, and ankle. Technique and surface are part of the program.

How much does it cost?

See the pricing page for current remote, in-person, and workplace options. Equipment is a separate, one-time purchase.

Can you train me if I don’t live in Los Angeles?

Yes — remote coaching works anywhere. In-person sessions are available in the Greater Los Angeles area; elsewhere, training is delivered virtually, and can combine with occasional in-person work depending on your location.

What if I’ve never used a weighted rope?

That’s the norm. Jim teaches the technique from the start and sets a beginner-appropriate routine before adding intensity or complexity.

How do I get started?

Get the minimal equipment and book your first session.
